Rock je žánr populární hudby, který se do hlavního proudu dostal v 50. až 60. letech 20. století. Má kořeny v rock and rollu, rhythm and blues a country hudbě 40. a 50. let, ale je také ovlivněn dalšími hudebními styly včetně těch klasických. Pro rockovou hudbu jsou typické tyto nástroje:

ZPĚV: Rockový zpěv je spíše jednohlasý, tedy sólový, s výrazným emočním nábojem (silný, drsný, hlasitý). Ve velkých kapelách přibývají vokály, případně vícehlasy.
